What is SUP?

I think many people are like me. Only by scrolling through social media did they discover this activity. Looking at the beautiful scenery in the photos, they imagine themselves gliding on a sup on the sea surface. Feeling the gentle waves slapping the board, the cool wind carrying the smell of the sea, and in the distance hangs an orange-red sunset. Since then, this picture has been deeply imprinted in my heart.

I want to try that too!

I signed up for the Kenting Wanlitong SUP group, and gathered at the store that day. I filled in my personal information first, changed into a super-fit cold-proof suit, put on a buoyancy life jacket, and finally put on non-slip shoes. We are finally going to jump into the sea!

I've been waiting for this day for a long time!

Walking down the inclined ladder at Wanlitong with a paddleboard. I first listened to the coach explain the operation method by the seaside. The coach was very detailed in his explanation. I was eager to try it out. So I pushed the stand-up paddle towards the sea. Getting on the board was very easy. I adjusted and searched for the center of the stand-up paddle and soon found a suitable position. Here I come, the sea. Just as I wanted to show off my skills, I slipped and overturned the board immediately because I paddled too hard. Fortunately, it is very easy to get on the board again in the shallow water area. For beginners in deep water, there are some skills to get on the board. The coach taught me to grab the opposite edge of the paddleboard and pull it down towards my body forcefully. Through buoyancy, the person is lifted up and naturally gets on the paddleboard. Wearing a life jacket makes it very easy to overcome.。

The first experience is full of fun. I found that stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) is easy to get started with. Sitting and kneeling postures are not difficult. I believe everyone can do it. I tried standing posture. This really requires experience and skills. Standing and taking pictures is okay. But when it comes to standing and paddling, it is necessary to maintain balance in a timely manner. As soon as I lost my center of gravity, I immediately fell into the water. Haha, this also added to the fun of this trip. To be able to stand and paddle really requires continuous practice. I will come back to challenge SUP again.
